OSCARS is extremely fortunate to be situated within the lovely grounds of Frampton Cotterell C of E Primary. Our children have access to climbing areas, a mud kitchen, playgrounds and fields.
On rainy days, or just for those who prefer to play indoors, children can keep busy with Lego, Knex, Jovo, jigsaws, board games and card games or have fun with role play and dressing up. There is a television and DVDs as well as plenty of books to read, or the children might even want to turn on a games console...
Arty children will enjoy drawing and colouring while the craft box offers up hours of creative enjoyment. Ahead of special occasions or festivals, our staff will encourage the children to create according to themes.
When you arrive at OSCARS you will always be met by friendly staff to welcome you. We do different things in each session, but the one thing that remains the same is that we always put the children, and their enjoyment, first. We love to include the children in decision-making at OSCARS, from the activities we do to the staff we hire, and include our children as much as we can.
Breakfast Club gives busy parents the peace of mind to start their working day safe in the knowledge that their child is nourished in more ways than one!
Our breakfast clubbers can choose from cereal, toast, fromage frais or fruit to start their day off in a healthy way! Breakfast is on offer until 8.15am and is served with either milk or water.
Our comfortable environment and friendly staff seek to ensure children head to their classrooms feeling happy and secure as their school day begins. After a period of free play, younger children are taken to their classes while Year 3 and above are allowed to walk there by themselves.
Our afternoon session always starts with a snack. This changes each day but could be along the lines of toast, wraps, pitta, yogurt etc. Sometimes we make sandwiches. Children are always welcome to fruit and may choose from squash or water to drink.
We like to play outside as much as possible, whether that be on the playground in the adventure play area or on the field. We have tennis equipment, footballs, hoops, stilts, a balance board, skipping ropes and hockey sticks to keep our OSCARS children active.
Our aim is to provide a fun, stimulating environment for the children and not just somewhere to go after school.
Our holiday schemes offer days of exciting activities and stimulating play. In between trips to local attractions and activities in the longer holidays, we may get the Quadro or sand out... There may be a workshop on Science Day or an expert to offer tips during a Hockey Day...
Whether it's a coach trip somewhere exciting, a ride on the train at Bridge House or just a walk down the road to do pond dipping in Frampton Cotterell's wonderful country surrounds, our days out bring safe, exciting activities for the children.
Our holiday club is available to all children, not just those attending FCCE. Click below for full details of our upcoming scheme.
OSCARS has a team of dedicated staff and playworkers who give their all to the children daily.
We try to work as closely as possible to a 1:8 staff to child ratio. If we go off-site, that changes to a lower ratio. We also accommodate children with additional needs and do our best to support any child wanting to access OSCARS.
OSCARS is currently looking for an additional Supervisor to join its team of talented and passionate playworkers. Please contact us for more information.
OSCARS is a non-profit charity, registered with the Charity Commission. In addition to a hard-working, full-time staff complement, the organisation also benefits from the time and expertise of a voluntary committee, who assist in the decision-making and various operational matters relating to the running of the Club and Playschemes.
Surplus monies, or those raised through fundraising efforts, are ploughed straight back into OSCARS and go towards building maintenance, play equipment and general running expenses, among other things.
We welcome new members to our committee. Please click here if you would like to volunteer.
